Zaflis Zaim, has defended his dissertation paper entitled Patterns of Community Participation in Sustainable Village Land Management (Study of Bayan Crooked Land Utilisation in Indrokilo Hamlet, Semarang Regency) at a closed doctoral promotion session held on 26 June 2020 at the UNDIP Architecture and Urban Science Doctoral Program. The research was supervised by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Imam Buchori, S.T., as Promoter and Dr. sc. agr. Iwan Rudiarto, S.T, M.Sc., as Co-Promoter located in Indrokilo Hamlet was motivated by the phenomenon of changes in the function and management rights of Bengkok land from Bayan to farmer groups. The research aims to assess land management characteristics and participation aspects, determine key socio-economic factors driving investment, build a sustainable village land management model. The methods used were quantitative and qualitative methods and were conducted through a survey strategy. The qualitative method was used to strengthen the results of quantitative analysis through factor analysis. In his research, he found four important points in the Bengkok land management pattern carried out with the spirit of mutual cooperation. These four key factors encourage land management investment; transformation of Bengkok land management rights is possible due to the rental system; changes in land management rights occur through encouragement of participation, communication and adaptation. Those four key factors that encourage land management investment are the total area of land managed, the amount of household income, the existence of credit institutions, the availability of local labour. The research findings recommend the use of appropriate technology, private sector collaboration and the availability of information media to increase community participation towards sustainable village land management.
