Agustinus Djoko Istiadji, born in Yogyakarta, successfully defended his dissertation titled A Regenerative Sustainability Approach Based on Complexity Theory and Dynamic Simulation (Case Study of Residential Building Energy) during a closed doctoral promotion defense. The defense was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Atiek Suprapti, MT, on November 20, 2024, and he was awarded the highest distinction. The defense was held in person, and he was declared successful as the 92nd doctoral graduate in the Doctoral Program in Architecture and Urban Planning, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (UNDIP). His dissertation was examined by the internal examination team from UNDIP, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Atiek Suprapti, MT, Prof. Dr. Ir. Erni Setyowati, MT, and Dr. Ir. Agung Dwiyanto, MSA, through a series of dissertation hearings, including the proposal defense, feasibility hearing, and the closed doctoral promotion defense. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jefrey I. Kindangen, DEA, served as the external examiner from Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat) in Manado. This dissertation is the result of research supervised by Prof. Dr. -Ing. Ir. Gagoek Hardiman as the promoter and Prof. Ir. PrasastoSatwiko, M.BSc., Ph.D., as the co-promoter.

For 6 years and 9 months, the man born on August 8, 1966, successfully completed his lecture and research process with the topic “How to Form and Implement Regenerative Sustainability Approach Based on Complexity Theory and Dynamic Simulation” This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method to find new approaches to achieving Sustainability and produce a distributed network-based ecological simulation model system using cloud computing technology, which is equipped with a dynamic simulation model based on Agent-Based Model (ABM). The validation results of the prototype simulation show good forecasting performance, so this complex adaptive system network simulation model has the potential to become a new forecasting tool to measure the sustainability index.

As a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, Agustinus Djoko Istiadji was given the opportunity to continue his doctoral education at the Diponegoro University (UNDIP) Architecture and Urban Science Doctoral Program. During his education, he was also actively involved in various activities such as seminars, research, competitions, and conferences both at national and international levels. In addition, he has published several scientific journal articles, including “Exploring The Evolution of Sustainability Science: Understanding The Complexity and Development of Sustainability Programs”and“Uncovering Holistic Contemporary Paradigms and HamemayuHayuning Bawana to Realise Sustainable Development Goals”
